The spirit of travel

During this ten-day tour, we have the opportunity to discover the relaxing and spiritual setting of Sri Lanka.

This stay allows us to visit many interesting places, notably around Kandy and Kalpitiya while enjoying daily yoga and meditation sessions. Each day, we dedicate the beginning of the day to a 30-minute meditation, then we continue with excursions.

A yoga session of approximately one hour and fifteen minutes takes place in the late afternoon.

Throughout the tour, Corinne, an English-speaking certified yoga instructor, accompanies us.

Barely setting foot on the ground when our driver welcomes us warmly at Bandaranaike International Airport.

We let ourselves be swept away by the relaxed atmosphere of this beach resort, located just a stone's throw from the airport.

We could, for example, unwind by strolling through its streets and admiring its magnificent setting. We would pass by its colonial churches and its canal. We would also take a tour of its fish market.

Subsequently, we leave Negombo to head towards Kandy, the last royal capital, located in the center of the territory.

On the way, we can stop at Kegale to discover the Millennium Elephant Foundation. We have the opportunity to encounter elephants, an emblem of the local fauna.

In late afternoon, we reach our hotel situated in the middle of the countryside so we can begin our yoga session.

Hikes around Kandy

Morning meditation session.

Sri Lanka's peninsula stands out particularly for its generous nature. We can attest to this after visiting the Royal Botanic Garden of Peradeniya. This charming corner spans 60 hectares and is bordered by the Mahaweli River. It is pleasant to stroll around for a few hours. You find yourself immersed among the royal palms, flower beds, orchids, and cannonball trees.

The journey continues with a guided tour through villages around the 3 majestic temples around the city. Starting with a visit to the Embekke Temple, a Buddhist place of worship with Hindu influences dating back to the 13th century. We find magnificent wooden sculptures there.

We move on to Lankatilaka Vihara, a religious building constructed around the 14th century. This is known for its sumptuous frescoes, its rock carvings and its magnificent Buddha statues.

We finish the visit at Gadaladeniya Vihara, on the road of the same name. Built in the 14th century, this ancient sanctuary is considered one of the largest cave temples in the country.

We end the day with our yoga session.

We then discover the factory Selyn, a social and solidarity enterprise working in artisanal weaving. It employs women living in the surrounding areas. This is an opportunity to observe the stages of textile manufacturing and how the workers' day unfolds.
