Arrival in Colombo and discovery of Kurunegala

Upon your arrival at Colombo airport, you will be welcomed by your driver, ready to take you to your first stop, Kurunegala, located halfway between Colombo and the Cultural Triangle.
The tropical atmosphere, the heat, the scents and the light immediately immerse you in a unique sensory experience.
Activities in Kurunegala :
Rocks of Kurunegala – Climb one of the city's famous rocks, such as Ethagala (the Elephant Rock), for a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and its surroundings.
Ridi Viharaya Temple – Visit this historic Buddhist temple, renowned for its ancient architecture and magnificent murals.
Kurunegala Reservoir – Enjoy a peaceful walk around this artificial lake, surrounded by a soothing natural setting.

Sigiriya and Pidurangala
In the morning, we suggest starting with a visit to the famous archaeological site of Sigirîya. This impressive massif, nicknamed the "Lion Rock", rises 200 meters above the village and dominates the landscape.
Accompanied by your guide, you will discover the different elements of the site: gardens and natural caves, the Maidens' frescoes, as well as the ruins of Kasyapa's palace at the summit.
This historical site, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, owes its fame to King Kasyapa, who built his residence there in the 10th century. It is the most visited site in Sri Lanka.
We recommend starting this visit early in the morning to avoid the heat and crowds, particularly present at the end of the day.
If you prefer a slightly less crowded experience, you can choose to climb Pidurangala hill, located right next to Lion Rock. This hike, in nature, will offer you a spectacular view of Sigiriya and the Minneriya National Park.
At the summit, you can admire the ruins of an ancient monastery, Buddha statues and caves. Although this climb is less crowded during the day, it attracts large crowds at sunrise and sunset.
Allow between 30 and 45 minutes to reach the summit, making sure to wear suitable footwear as the climb involves scrambling over rocks. This outing is not recommended with young children.
After these morning discoveries, enjoy a moment of relaxation to recharge your batteries before continuing your adventure in Sri Lanka.
Jay's Organic Farm & Polonnaruwa
Start your day with an immersion in nature during a visit to Jay's Organic Farm. The excursion begins in an original way by tractor, allowing you to reach the organic vegetable garden in a typical vehicle.
Once there, you will discover the secrets of agriculture in Sri Lanka and learn about organic farming methods. You will be able to explore the variety of fruits and vegetables that grow on this island rich in biodiversity.
Next, participate in a cooking preparation session, where you will discover traditional Sri Lankan techniques before tasting a delicious traditional rice & curry, accompanied by 4 to 5 vegetable dishes and 1 or 2 meat dishes, all served with rice.
The excursion ends with a return journey by tuk-tuk, the essential local means of transport. The activity starts around 11am and ends around 1:30pm-2pm.
In the afternoon, set off to discover Polonnaruwa, an ancient city that extends over about ten square kilometers.
Former royal capital of Sri Lanka, you will visit the ruins of palaces and temples, notably Kalu Gal Vihara, a set of 4 Buddha statues carved into granite.
The archaeological museum is also worth a visit. It is also an opportunity to take a walk near Parakrama Samudra Lake.
Dambulla & Kandy
In the morning, discover Dambulla, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its Buddhist caves perched at the top of a hill.
You will be able to discover incredible murals, Buddha statues in different postures, all scattered throughout a maze of 5 caves. Also enjoy the very beautiful panoramic view of the surroundings.
Next, stroll through the Dambulla wholesale market; a large hall where fruits, vegetables, and other products grown on the island of Sri Lanka are traded.
This market is for professionals who come to stock up and then sell their goods in Colombo, the economic capital.
Take the time to make this small detour as it allows you to appreciate the great variety of products that grow on the island, prepare yourself to discover new species unknown to you.
Transfer to Kandy
Next, visit the city of Kandy, the last royal capital of the island and still retaining an interesting aristocratic atmosphere.
Explore the city center on foot, starting with a visit to the Tooth Temple. The site is richly decorated and houses the relic of Buddha's tooth.
Then, take a walk around the lake, approximately 4 km. Not far from it, you can explore the vegetable market which is very lively and sometimes crowded with touts; it is worth visiting for the diversity of products and the atmosphere.
Depending on your mood, you can also attend one of the three ceremonies held in the tooth temple at 5:30 am, 9:30 am and 6:30 pm, times varying slightly depending on the seasons.
At 5:00 pm, you also have the opportunity to watch a Kandyan dance performance representing the festivities held in Kandy during the Esala Perahera festival.

In the afternoon, we suggest you visit the Royal Botanical Garden of Peradeniya, which flourishes on the banks of the Mahaweli River.
This garden, one of the most famous in the world, is home to nearly 4,000 species of plants over more than 60 hectares. Don't miss the avenue of royal palms, the cannonball trees, the collection of orchids and the multicolored flower beds.
This garden offers a magnificent walk, a real must-see!
Ramboda Falls, Nuwara Eliya
On the way to Nuwara Eliya, we recommend you stop to admire the impressive Ramboda Falls, among the highest in the country. The contrasts of colors between the rock, water and vegetation offer a spectacular sight.
You will then continue your journey to Nuwara Eliya, the highest city in Sri Lanka, renowned as the country's vegetable garden. Also called "Little England", this mountain town retains a colonial charm with its Anglo-Saxon architecture.
Very popular with Sri Lankans during the Sinhalese and Tamil New Year period in April, Nuwara Eliya benefits from mild temperatures and is an ideal starting point for many excursions. Enjoy the magnificent view over the surrounding peaks and valleys.
Discover on foot the charming town center and Victoria Park, where you can enjoy beautiful gardens. If you feel like it, you can also take a peaceful boat ride on the picturesque Lake Gregory.
For a unique experience, board a train at the station in Nanu Oya for an enchanting journey through the Sri Lankan mountains. The train, perched on rugged slopes, crosses tunnels and elevated bridges, offering breathtaking views over the tea plantations as far as the eye can see.

Tuk-tuk ride through tea plantations
In the morning, set off on a 4-hour tuk-tuk ride with an experienced driver. You will head towards the magnificent tea plantations where you will have the opportunity to meet tea pickers, often without crossing paths with other tourists.
Your guide will explain the specificities of Sri Lanka's tea industry. You will continue your ascent by tuk-tuk, taking winding roads and passing through charming small villages.
Admire the stunning views of the valleys and the surrounding waterfalls. Also observe the process of weighing tea leaves and discover the daily operations of a tea plantation.
Continue your adventure to the mountain's peak, where a breathtaking viewpoint awaits you.
You will then arrive at Lipton's Seat, the place where the master of green gold, Sir Thomas Lipton, loved to sit and contemplate his lands.
Enjoy a good glass of tea at the small shop at the top, and if you wish, you can also visit a school on the way.
End this experience by visiting a tea factory, an opportunity to learn more about the process of transforming tea leaves.
You will also have the opportunity to meet tea pickers and witness a demonstration of their expertise.
Discovery of Buduruwagala Statues and Safari at Udawalawe
On the way to Udawalawa, stop to admire the statues of Buduruwagala, over two thousand years old.
This impressive site bears witness to the skill of the stone carvers of the time. The most imposing statue represents a Buddha 17 meters tall, a true masterpiece carved into the rock.
After this visit, transfer to Udawalawa and check-in at your hotel.
In the afternoon, set off for a jeep safari in Udawalawe, a natural park famous for its elephant population and abundance of birds.
You will also have the opportunity to observe crocodiles, bears, sambars, monitor lizards and, with a bit of luck, leopards.
A naturalist guide will accompany you throughout the excursion, offering explanations and their trained eye to spot animals in the undergrowth. The park, created in 1972, promises you an unforgettable experience.

Elephant Rehabilitation Center Visit and Dondra Cape Discovery
In the morning, we invite you to visit one of the best rehabilitation centers in Sri Lanka, the "Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home". This center cares for orphaned elephants, helping them become independent and ready to be released into the wild.
No physical contact with elephants is permitted in order to minimize their interactions with humans, but you will have the chance to admire the baby elephants fed by volunteers.
It is a pleasant and captivating experience for nature and wildlife enthusiasts. Feeding times are at 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. (feeding duration: 20 minutes).
On the way to Polhena, you will reach the southernmost point of the island, Cape Dondra. There, you can admire the largest lighthouse in Southeast Asia, which stands proudly on its promontory, facing the Indian Ocean.
Take a moment to appreciate the landscape and reflect on the past glory of this tower, whose powerful beacon guided many vessels.
Transfer to Polhena and check-in at your hotel

Visit of Galle and Discovery of Colombo
On the way to Colombo, take a break to visit the city of Galle, a true architectural gem with varied colonial influences.
The fort, built in the 17th century by the Dutch, is a peaceful and welcoming village, completely disconnected from the rest of the city. Walk along the ramparts, greet the lighthouse and enjoy the view of the many churches and small shops that make up this charming setting.
After your visit to Galle, transfer to Colombo.
Once you arrive in Colombo, begin your exploration of this dynamic capital by visiting the Dutch fort district and the Dutch period museum (currently under renovation).
Then discover the district of Pettah with its bustling bazaar, its mosque and its vibrant streets. Head to the City Hall district to admire its colonial buildings. Enjoy a walking tour around Beira Lake to discover the Gangaramaya Buddhist temple.
If you are in Colombo on a Saturday, don't miss the Good Market at Race Course, a local organic and artisanal market. This will also be an opportunity to shop, have lunch in one of the modern restaurants and meet your local agent.
To end the day, head to Galle Face Green, a popular spot to admire a magnificent sunset. It is the ideal place to relax with family or as a couple, while enjoying the unique ocean panorama.

The information below concerns travelers from the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland and Canada traveling to Sri Lanka for a tourist stay. Entry rules may change, so we recommend verifying this information with the official authorities before your departure.
Passport
To enter Sri Lanka, your passport must be valid for at least six months after your entry date into the country and contain at least two blank pages for immigration stamps.
The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn or altered pages).
Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)
Nationals of the European Economic Area, Switzerland and Canada must obtain a Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA – Electronic Travel Authorization) before arriving in Sri Lanka. There is no visa exemption on arrival for a tourist stay.
The ETA can be obtained online via the official Sri Lankan government portal and allows a tourist stay of up to 30 days, with the possibility of extending your stay in the country up to a maximum of 90 days with the Sri Lankan Immigration Department.
Authorities may also request:
an exit ticket from the territory (return or onward flight),
proof of sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay,
a confirmation of accommodation reservation.
Sri Lanka Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)
Before your arrival, you must obtain a Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), issued by Sri Lankan authorities.
This electronic visa must be requested online on the official Sri Lankan government website. Required information includes:
passport information
flight and itinerary details
address of your first accommodation in Sri Lanka
personal information and contact details
The ETA is generally issued within a few hours to a few days. It is recommended to submit your application at least 48 hours before departure. The digital confirmation must be presented to immigration on arrival.
Health and Vaccinations
No vaccine is mandatory to enter Sri Lanka from the EEA, Switzerland or Canada. However, certain vaccinations are recommended by health authorities, particularly against:
hepatitis A and hepatitis B,
typhoid,
rabies (in case of risk activities or extended stay in rural areas).
Precautions against malaria and dengue may be recommended depending on the regions you visit. Consult a doctor or an international vaccination center before your departure.
Traveling with Children
Minors must have their own valid passport covering the duration of the stay and their own ETA.
In certain European countries, when a minor travels without one of their parents, a territorial exit authorization may be required according to the regulations of their country of residence.

Entry conditions may vary depending on nationality. Travelers concerned should check with the Sri Lankan embassy or consulate in their country of residence.
